We are looking for an Enterprise Operations Manager (EOM) for the Current Operations Team
An EOM manages 20+ people who direct operational and critical incident management activities to ensure the Navy/Marine Corps Intranet (NMCI) meets availability, security, and performance requirements in alignment with ITIL best practices. This is the largest intranet in the world.
Four teams, each managed by an EOM, perform this duty 24X7 across four Network Operations Centers (NOCs) located in various parts of the United States. These NOCs monitor Local Area Network (LAN) environments which comprise the fully-integrated Wide Area Network (WAN) environment to ensure secure voice, video, and data transmission.
This position is unique, highly visible, and comes with unusual authority to make decisions directly affecting thousands of military personnel, including those with the highest military rank.
EOMs are involved in resolving every major critical outage on the network and communicating status to all stakeholders. EOMs understand the technical configuration of the network, its operational state, the realities of a situation, what will work, what will not work, what actions are necessary even if the situation is new and unique. For this reason, their advice is often sought by HP and military executives and they have significant decision-making authority. (not to be under estimated)
EOMs have earned this position of trust and authority over time through strong leadership actions:
Building a team of high-quality employees, managing, mentoring, educating, motivating.
Delegating tasks to the team, showing confidence in their abilities. Allowing people to grow.
Building relationships with other HP teams and Navy/Marine Corps customers. Gaining trust.
Working well with other EOMs and their teams. Teamwork.
Multitasking, handling numerous interruptions and situations, communicating, delegating, double-checking, thinking on their feet, making decisions and reviewing them later to realize continual improvement.
Manage 20+ people who direct critical operational activities to ensure the Navy/Marine Corps Intranet (NMCI) meets availability, security, and performance requirements. Provide periodic evaluations and interactive development plans to each team member.
Manage actions of four Network Operations Centers (NOCs), located across the United States.
Manage communication to military and HP executives and other stakeholders about critical incidents and outages as they occur, along with periodic follow-up reports and notifications of resolution.
Manage security-related events, network vulnerabilities, suspicious activities, malicious attacks, and anti-virus alerts.
Schedule and conduct meetings prior to, and during, emergencies and disasters as documented in the NMCI Disaster Recovery Plan. The scope of this activity covers employee accountability and safety as well as IT services and failovers from one NOC or server farm to another.
Document critical incidents and outages well so the Problem Management organization can effectively research root cause to eliminate reoccurrence.
Familiar with the NMCI project's implementation of ITIL processes. Directly execute the Event Management, Incident Management, and Continuous Improvement processes.
Manage IT services to meet requirements within specified cost constraints by developing standards and recommending efficiency improvements.
Create and distribute daily reports that describe performance and areas for improvement.
Interact with Navy and Marine Corps operations personnel to facilitate good communication, understanding of customer perceptions, and proposing recommendations.
Scope and Impact:
EOMs manage the operational and critical incident management activities of the largest intranet in the world.
The United States Navy and United States Marine Corps require meeting the highest standards for reliability, availability, security, communication, and performance.
A single mistake can cause serious negative impact, but good planning, decision-making, communication, and the ability to learn from mistakes can result in significant contribution to the success of this important customer whose mission is critical.
The ideal candidate will possess Leadership, Supervisory, Technical, Communication, and Business Relationship skills, as well as applied experience in leading 365x24x7 staff in monitoring events and responding to incidents. The candidate is expected to be able to provide technical leadership and oversight to functions and tasks aligned to Enterprise Operations, Backup & Restore, Client Services, Server & Service Monitoring, Event & Incident Response. Additional skills strongly desired in Analysis, Organizational Strategy, and Revenue Growth.
The ideal candidate will meet or exceed the following Requirements:
CompTIA Security+ CE certification, or higher, to meet DoD 8570 compliance requirements
Active DoD SECRET security clearance, or higher
Must be able to work on-site
Must be a United States Citizen
