Determines the cause of record imbalances through collection, analysis, and evaluation of factors contributing to the inventory adjustment.
Initiates and makes corrective actions to synchronize the depot record with the physical inventory balance.
Generates the Financial Liability Investigation of Property Loss (FLIPL) Report in accordance with agency policy and procedures as appointed in writing by the proper authority.
Develops recommendations for new procedures which correct or prevent errors.
Gathers data from automated systems to analyze trends of recurring discrepancies.
Conducts operational and systemic studies to causes contributing to physical inventory and location inaccuracies and validates data compiled using various ADP systems to resolve record accuracy problems.
Identifies and initiates new procedures to reduce inventory record error rate, streamline inventory processes, and comply with agency guidance.
Arranges special inventories to reconcile accountable records.
Plans, develops schedules for and conducts inventories.
May operate material handling equipment such as forklifts and stock selectors to locate and move materials.
May lead lower graded technicians performing inventory functions.

Experience:
One year of specialized experience that equipped you with the particular competencies to successfully perform the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled.
To qualify at the GS-09 level, applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-07 level or equivalent under other pay systems in the Federal service, military or private sector.

Combinations of successfully completed post-high school education and experience may be used to meet total qualification requirements for grade levels GS-09 and may be computed by first determining the applicant's total qualifying experience as a percentage of the experience required for the grade level; then determining the applicant's education as a percentage of the education required for the grade level; and then adding the two percentages.
The total percentages must equal at least 100 percent to qualify an applicant for that grade level.

Physical Demands:
Much of the work is sedentary and performed in a typical office environment.
The incumbent also frequently performs work within storage areas which involves long periods of standi g, walking, bending, climbing ladders, stooping and lifting up to 40 lbs to perform physical searches and observe/study work operations in an industrial, storage, or comparable work setting.
Work Environment:
Most of the work is done in an adequately lighted and climate controlled ice.
However, the incumbent also regularly performs work within storage or other industrial areas involving moderate risks and climatic discomforts.
During such visits, protective clothing, gear and observance of safety precautions are required.
